Two jobs - one vocation
Floris van den Top has been working at StudieBijbel for over 1.5 years as an ICT support employee. He finds it important that God's Word is as accessible as possible to everyone: "I like helping others move forward." Want to get further acquainted? Read on!
My name is Floris van den Top, I am 43 years old and since the beginning of 2024 I work at StudieBijbel as an employee ICT support. In this broad function I get many ICT questions from colleagues and customers. I enjoy helping others, solving technical problems and thinking about how we can improve and innovate processes. All with one goal: to make God's Word as accessible as possible to everyone.
In addition to my work at Study Bible, I am also active as a missionary outreach worker at the Gave Foundation. Since October 2021, I have been committed to helping refugees in Zutphen and the surrounding area. We have a House of Joy, a community center where refugees are welcome for meeting, friendship and hope. My greatest desire is that they come to know Jesus. That they experience that there is a God who sees and loves them. Recently, two Muslims came to faith. They said they were touched by the way Christians interact with each other and with others. They saw a mutual love that they did not know in their own environment, a love that touched them deeply. Their testimony touched me and showed me how true and important it is what Jesus said:
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, you also must love one another. By this all will see that you are My disciples: if you have love among yourselves."
John 13:34-35
One of them was recently baptized - that was a special and moving moment. We look forward to the other being baptized soon as well.
I depend entirely on donations for my work at Gave. I currently work 12 hours per week, but I would like to expand this to at least 16 hours to be able to do more. For this I need new partners who want to support this work financially.
