How do you do a word study?
With this roadmap, you will learn to do a word study in the Study Bible app. Instructive, in-depth and inspiring. Open your Study Bible app And get to work yourself!
➡️Stap 1 - Dutch word
Choose a word from a Bible passage that you want to look at further. For example, choose a key word from the text you are reading.
➡️Stap 2 - Fundamental Words
Click on the word in the original text. The word study then opens.
Ask yourself questions like: What is the root word? In what other words does the root word appear? Or are there similar words?
Using the search function, you can also search all word studies. For example, if you are looking for something about grace and you search on that word, you will get all the word studies in which the word grace appears. Note; the Bible portion does not change, but the word study does. It is best to close the Bible section on your mobile phone.
➡️Stap 3 - Concordance
Search through the app in the concordance (scroll down) to see how and where the root word is used and how it is translated. Does it occur often? Does it occur only in a particular section?
➡️Stap 4 - Ground meaning
Study the root meaning. Read through the (extended) description. What other meanings are there? What stands out to you?
➡️Stap 5 - Even deeper
Then those who want to dig even deeper will go through the explanations of the Bible verses mentioned as key texts in the word study.
In the app, go to the concordance list open under word study. Clicking on a reference in the list will give you a pop-up. Click on that and you will immediately get to that verse and its explanation.
💡 You can also incorporate a word study into a Bible study, use it as an assignment or share it with others.
