‘Always discovering new things about Him’

Marianne has been working at Study Bible since 2021 and enjoys dedicating herself to administration. We are grateful to have her on our team.

What is your role with “Study Bible”?

Since January 2021, I have been working as an administrative assistant for 8 hours per week. With great pleasure I take care of all administration around the StudieBijbel online. Think of customer questions, activation and processing of subscriptions, support questions, financial processing and of course much more. So if you have a online subscription close with us, chances are we will be in touch. Nice!

What encourages you most to examine the Bible?

What I love most is that by reading the Bible we learn more about who God is. It is fascinating that we never stop learning and are always discovering new things about Him. This motivates me to read the Bible again and again.

If you could speak to one Biblical character, who would you choose?

Ruth. The famous words, "Your people are my people and your God is my God," that Ruth utters when she tells Naomi that she will go with her, show great faith in God and in His guidance in her life. I can so imagine that it has not been an easy choice for her, but despite that she takes this step with confidence. I can learn a lot from this in my life, and it encourages me that - although we often don't see the outcome - we may take steps in faith and trust, and that God attaches His blessing to this. We see this so beautifully reflected in Ruth's life.

What is your motivation for working at “Study Bible”?

It makes me grateful that with my work at Study Bible I get to make a small contribution to spreading the gospel and helping people find more depth in God's word. I also get to be part of a wonderful team of people working together on the same mission. I enjoy that immensely!

What do you do besides your work for “Study Bible”?

In addition to working for Study Bible and my family, I work a few days a week in my own coaching practice ‘Stand Up and Shine. Here I coach women towards greater mental health and inner recovery. It is very special to be able to witness from up close how women can experience more wholeness through this guidance and become more the person as God intended them to be.

What touches you most when you think about the kingdom of God?

I am reminded of Sela's song "Future Full of Hope. However difficult this life can be and whatever struggles we face, this does not outweigh the glory that is to come. The fact that Jesus came to bring restoration and justice through His suffering and death and through His life, and that we may share in this joy and freedom through faith, amazes me again and again.

What discovery did you make that changed your view of something?

Because of my church background, I struggled with my God image for a long time. I first saw God as a stern wrathful God who wants nothing to do with me. By grace, I learned that God is a loving Father who loves us humans so much that He sent Jesus into this world to save us. The inner compassion that Jesus had and still has for people speaks so much love and grace. This loving side of God has been a revelation to me and has certainly changed my life of faith.

What do you see God's Spirit at work in your environment the most in recent months?

I see this especially among young people. I myself have a family with teenagers so I see up close that it is not easy to grow up in these times. At the same time, I see among them, but also among young people in our church congregation, that there is a hunger for God and I see Him at work in their lives. This amazes me and encourages me in my own life of faith.
