End Time

What does the future of the world look like? - Part 3

July 11, 2025 - drs. G. (Gijs) van den Brink

What does the future of the world look like? Jesus answers this question in Matthew 24. After visiting the temple, Jesus tells them that it will be torn down. Then the disciples ask him when that will happen and what is the sign of his coming and the end of the world (vs.1-3).

It is interesting to note that the disciples assume that the demolition of the temple will coincide with the return of Jesus and the end of the present world order. Surely, according to Jesus, this is slightly different, and he goes on to explain in detail what the future of the world looks like. He foresees a future consisting of three eras or periods, this is part 3.

Return of peace on earth read verses 29-31

The third period that Jesus announced several times during his life is that of his coming on the clouds of heaven in glory.
Then all the deceased believers are raised and all living believers are changed in an instant into a new, glorified body, says Paul (1 Tes. 4:13-18).

During that time just before or during Jesus' return, it will be people of Israel come to repentance and begin to see that Jesus is the Messiah (Rom. 11:25-27).

Third, Jesus' return to earth marks the beginning of a global peace empire, where King Jesus will reign (read Isa. 2:2-5; Rev. 20:1-6).
